Program Description:
Mothercare group currently runs on 1st & 3rd Tuesday of each month 11am-1pm at JVH School in Kaslo. This is a drop-in group for families who are pregnant and/or have new infants and toddlers from birth to 12 months. A hot nutritious soup lunch is provided as well as childcare for older children. A great opportunity to socialize with other families who are expecting and/or parenting children in the first year of life. Occasionally we have a guest speaker leading a group discussion on a wide range of topics related to the prenatal and perinatal period – participants are encouraged to request guest speakers of interest.
The Pregnancy Outreach worker is also available during the Strong Start program on the 4th Thursday of each month 9-11am at Jewett School in Meadow Creek.
Drop-in services accessible at both the Kaslo Mothercare and Meadow Creek Strong Start programs. Kaslo POP can offer prenatal vitamins, monthly grocery vouchers, support, prenatal & perinatal education, resources and referrals to community services, breastfeeding coaching, and a chance to connect with other families.
All services are provided free. Donations are welcome as able.

Nelson POP can offer prenatal vitamins, monthly grocery vouchers, support, prenatal & perinatal education, accurate infant scale for baby weights, quiet room for breastfeeding, resources and referrals to community services, breastfeeding coaching, and a chance to connect with other families.

Most weeks we have a guest speaker leading a group discussion on a wide range of topics such as nutrition, prenatal education, postpartum experiences, normal infant development, attachment, family dynamics, caring for newborns, budgeting & finances, breastfeeding, dental care, Chinese medicine, infant massage, infant sign language, mental health issues, physiotherapy & recovering from childbirth, community resources, Mother Goose, playgroups, toy lending library, etc. Group does not run during school holidays.
Participants have access to a public health nurse on Mondays & Thursdays.
