Heather Cameron , founder of the Mothers for Recovery Program in Kamloops gave a passionate account of her personal experience with drug addiction and how her journey brought about the development of the Mothers for Recovery Program. “Excellent speaker. Thank you for sharing your story. I love the way you believe in women. Women have to walk with women through all kinds of challenges. Well done!” “By far the best, most beneficial speaker I’ve heard in my professional career.” Later, Penny Simkin, Doula, Physical Therapist and author of “When Survivors Give Birth” captivated the audience with her findings on the impacts of the childbirth experience for survivors of sexual abuse. Conference delegates raved about Penny’s presentation… “Absolutely excellent. Thanks so much. Intriguing, surprising & valuable info. So insightful & beneficial to know & understand. I’m walking away with such an appreciation & understanding of childbirth experiences & how it can be impacted if there’s a past history of sexual abuse.” “I do CSA counseling as well as POP, and found Penny to be a presenter beyond expectations (I have heard many). The best presentation of the conference.” BCAPOP’s conference success was made possible through support from the following partners: The Public Health Agency of Canada, BC Region provided funding support for conference presenters, operations and travel subsidy for the 2009 BCAPOP conference Frog Hollow Neighbourhood House partnered with BCAPOP to coordinate the 2009 conference.
