Program Description:
Healthy Babies is a community program supporting pregnant women and women with babies up to six months old who need extra help and support. The Healthy Babies team works with women to have healthy pregnancies and lifestyles with a focus on nutrition. The program is delivered from four different sites in the Tricities and Ridge Meadows areas. The sites are Mountain View Elementary School in Coquitlam, Blue Mountain Baptist Church in Coquitlam, Trinity United Church in Port Coquitlam, and St. Andrews United Church in Maple Ridge. Weekly lunches are held at all sites from 11:30-2:00pm. These group meetings are an excellent opportunity for clients to gain new skills in food preparation and learn about nutrition while socializing. A nutritionist, public health nurse, and volunteer coordinator are on hand to answer questions about health or lifestyle issues and facilitate discussions on topics of interest to clients.
