How to get involved

BCAPOP is thrilled to announce our Perinatal Substance Use Project that will provide support, resources and training to all pregnancy outreach programs in British Columbia (CPNP Programs and BCAPOP Member Programs are eligible).  Programs that were interested in participating in the project completed the survey sent out via email by June 30th, 2019.  We received over 70 responses and results will be available shortly.

Pregnancy Outreach Program Perinatal Substance Use Champion Training-

Eligibility

One champion from each pregnancy outreach program (selected by each program) will be fully-funded to attend a networking evening and two full days of training in the region closest to their program.  Eligible programs include all Canadian Prenatal Nutrition Programs (CPNP's) and all BCAPOP member programs (one champion per membership). 

Travel and Accommodation Reimbursement Form

Champions will be reimbursed for travel and accommodation costs, while training registration and nutrition breaks/lunch during the training will be covered upfront. Meals outside of the training hours will be the responsibility of each Champion.   The number of hotel nights and type of travel reimbursed will depend upon distance from the training location- please read the form below carefully before booking your flight and or hotel.  Additional staff may attend based on space availability, but will be responsible for their travel and accommodation.

Training Format
The training is under development, but will cover basic evidence-based information surrounding perinatal substance use and how to better support pregnant and newly parenting individuals who use substances. An agenda will be available in August 2019.

Day 1- 6pm-8pm (Networking Session- Hosted by Heather Cameron, RN. and BCAPOP Regional Board of Directors Representative)

Day 2- 9am-4pm (Training- Presented by Heather Cameron, RN.)

Day 3- 9am-3pm (Training- Presented by Susan Wright, Executive Director of Family Tree Family Centre and Heather Cameron, RN.)

All CPNP Programs and BCAPOP Member programs MUST register their staff member by August 15th, 2019 that they have chosen as their champion to attend the regional training.  After this date, seats will be released to other programs that wish to send additional staff.  After registering please book rooms as per directions below, if necessary.
